Movie review: What’s Your Number?

When Anna Faris gives up her digits in What’s Your Number?, our favorite blonde funny girl has to deal with the consequences in this adorable romantic comedy starring Chris Evans.

It used to be age, then it was weight, and now ladies, we're having folks ask us our "number." Seriously. I'm talking about the number of sexual partners, up until now, that you've had. How many? That's what people are asking. Yeah, that number.

Anna Faris in What's Your Number

It's not the kind of information a woman typically offers up to anyone. There's really no good answer. Too high means, well… we won't go there. And, too low... it's almost worse than too high. Judgment is everywhere, no matter what number you have.

So, it's better left unsaid, right? Not for Anna Faris' character Ally Darling in the new romantic comedy, What's Your Number? This movie is about how to take your love life by the reins when your sex life is out of control.

Sexual partners: What's your sex number?  >>

THE PLOT

Based on the book, 20 Times a Lady, by Karyn Bosnak, the film tracks a responsible working woman, who in most areas of her life, has it all figured out. That is, until she does a little math and calculates that if she sleeps with just one more guy, her chances of finding Mr. Right fly out the window.

As the theory goes – or so the movie says -- a woman who has slept with more than 20 men in her life has less of a chance of finding a mate than those who haven't. That means Anna Faris has to stop right there. She's already at 20.

So the only way for her to find a man is to go back to one she has already met. Taking her fate into her own hands, this can-do gal must track down all her ex-boyfriends, hoping one of the 20 will somehow suddenly have become the man of her dreams.

Anna Faris

It seems like it would be easy to track down one's ex-lovers in today's Facebooking, Googling society of pure internet bliss, no? Well… it's not as easy as it seems. Not for our gal. Anna Faris intertangled with hot guy Chris Evans in mindless discourse that's just fun, fun, fun.

Video: Anna reveals Chris Evans ideal woman >>

Evans plays the super hot next door neighbor who is particularly good at tracking down missing persons. He also happens to be a major player. Of course. He agrees to help Faris if – and only if -- she lets him hide in her apartment from his ex-girlfriends. Seems like an easy enough arrangement… until things take a turn and these two start falling for each other. We were hoping that would happen!

Anna Faris

But now we're knee deep in finding some of the ex-lovers, and some of them aren't half bad. In fact, some of them are a little bit en fuego to be exact. For example, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Dave Annable. Where have these hotties been hiding?

Hottie of the Day -- Oliver Jackson-Cohen  >>

But that's not even the half of it. Funnier versions of the would-be hot guy include Joel McHale , Anna Faris' real life husband Chris Pratt , Anthony Mackie and Martin Freeman . Even Andy Samberg makes an appearance.

MOVIE CLIP: Andy Samberg plays nerdy puppeteer in What's Your Number?  >>

What's Your Number?

This complicates things for Ms. Faris and Mr. Evans. And, we love complications. Especially when they deal with romance. Anna plows through her list of exes with nothing but good intentions and this creates some of the film's funniest moments. Evans grows increasingly more fond of Faris as the wedding of her sister -- the event she desparately wants to bring a date to -- looms on the horizon.

Supporting characters include Anna's sister, played by Ari Graynor and her mother, played by the hilarious Blythe Danner. They are certainly all up in her business and not making this any easier.

Left with more choices than she ever thought she'd have, Anna Faris must decide if it's anyone's business just how many guys she's slept with and whether it matters when finding the man of her dreams. Regardless of the outcome, it's food for thought for the rest of the female population who will hopefully discover that whatever the digit may be, it only matters if you want it to.

BOTTOM LINE: At once funny and endearing, What's Your Number? is the perfect flick for a girls' night out.

'What’s Your Number?' stars Chris Evans and Anna Faris sit down with SheKnows to chat about the flick and what Chris looks for in a woman.

He likes big butts and he cannot lie….

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris

This may or may not have been a joke, but when SheKnows sat down with Chris Evans and Anna Faris at the What's Your Number? junket recently, butts were a big topic of conversation.

The co-stars, who share an impeccably in sync comedic timing, spent most of our chat ripping on each other.

When asked what Evans looks for in a woman, Faris finished the answer for him.

"Big butts," said the actress. Chris confirmed this revelation, "Yeah, big butts. I'm a butt man." In all seriousness, Chris followed up with a more in-depth description of his ideal woman.

"I like girls that are self-deprecating," Evans told SheKnows. "I like a girl that can make fun of herself. Whenever anybody takes themselves too seriously it's kind of a turnoff. I like people who are genuinely modest, not that forced modest."

Sounds like someone we know…

"Anna does not think she's funny, which is insane," Chris told us. "It's a fantastic quality, someone who has a genuine sense of humility."

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt joke about their numbers

Anna Farris and Chris Pratt talk about filming What's Your Number and joke about their own numbers.

See what Anna's hubby Chris Pratt had to say about her>>

Anna showed off this attribute a few times during our interview, first when she complimented co-star Joel McHale's assets.

"He kind of has a cute butt," the actress laughed after being quizzed on McHale's bare bum scene. But the funniest Faris moment came when she revealed how simple she thinks Evans' dating life must be.

"I can't even remember the last date I was on," Chris told SheKnows. "Does anyone even date anymore?"

"You don't date because you're Captain America, you just take," Anna deadpanned.

This last zinger had Chris in stitches, "That's the best thing I've ever heard in my life."

Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt talks donning a fat suit as “Disgusting Donald” in What’s Your Number?, and working with his wife Anna Faris.

One of the first exes you meet in the film What's Your Number? is Ally's binge-eating boyfriend, affectionately named "Disgusting Donald."

Chris Pratt as

You quickly realize that with each relationship Ally enters, she morphs into the man she's dating. In this case, it's her real life husband of two years, Chris Pratt, dressed as an overweight oaf.

"My favorite scene to film was wearing a fat suit and kind of just dancing and eating corn dogs as Disgusting Donald," Pratt told SheKnows at the film junket. "That was really fun to wear a fat suit that looked real."

Unlike their characters though, Pratt tells SheKnows that after two years of marriage he and Faris have brought out the best in each other.

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt

"I think we have a lot in common," said Pratt. "We play acting games all the time and we're both homebodies. I don't think we turned in to one another; I think we found each other."

Anna echoed these sentiments in our sit-down with her and co-star Chris Evans.

Paul McCartney's wedding to Nancy Shevell tops our list of low-key yet super fab celebrity weddings. Who else made our list?

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell

Paul McCartney's wedding to third wife Nancy Shevell was pretty low-key -- save for a police visit at the reception. McCartney and Shevell only invited about 30 guests to the Saturday afternoon nuptials in London, including his daughter Stella McCartney and Shevell's cousin, Barbara Walters.

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell's low key wedding

"It was terrific -- thank you!" McCartney told the crowd after the ceremony.

We're used to seeing the blow-out celebrity weddings with mile-long guest lists and crazy expenses McCartney's wedding reminded us that some celebrities choose to make it all about the vows instead of the glitz and glamour.

Which other celebrities opted for simple weddings?

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green wedding

Transformers stunner Megan Fox married her longtime boyfriend Brian Austin Green in a June 2010 beachside ceremony in Hawaii. The couple -- along with Green's son -- said their vows in front of the surf and celebrated with only a few guests.

Fox and Green's wedding was a surprise to some, especially since the brunette actress said she'd never get married.

"I'm not going to be married -- I'm not the marrying type. And I know your next question is going to be: Why are you engaged if you're not the marrying type? I am impulsive and I love my boyfriend, but I have no plans of getting married any time soon," she told US Weekly in an interview.

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt play co-dependent lovers in the new comedy What's Your Number, but in real life they're just an adorable married couple. The two married in 2009 in Bali with a few close friends and family.

After their engagement, Faris told People that she just wanted a simple wedding.

"I get to play and get my hair and make-up done in my professional life, so I don't really know if I want that fuss for my wedding," she said. "I want simple."

Her biggest desire for the day?

"A lot of alcohol and no drama," she joked. "No fuss, that's the most important thing. Warm would be great."

Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall

Zara Phillips

Royal Zara Phillips didn't let all of the commotion over the royal wedding influence her wedding decisions. Prince William's cousin chose to go the low-key route for her nuptials to Mike Tindall.

Sure, plenty of royal watchers showed up in Edinburgh, Scotland, to see the wedding, but the actual ceremony was only for friends and family. The couple is so low-key that they didn't even take a honeymoon right away.

"Unfortunately both of us do have quite busy lives so it's going to have to wait a bit for a honeymoon, but it is quite nice to go back to work as well," Queen Elizabeth's granddaughter said at the time.

"We're kind of missing the quiet period where we can catch up and have some sleep. It's back to work and that's what we do," she added.

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady

Tom Brady and Giselle Bundchen

Gisele Bundchen is used to all of the fuss over her looks -- she is a supermodel, after all. However, she chose to keep the hoopla to a minimum when she married Tom Brady.

The couple wed in a small ceremony in Santa Monica, Calif. The wedding -- near the beach -- was followed with a small reception at their Brentwood home.

Movie review: The Five-Year Engagement

$

According to this movie, your fiancee may not like what it says about you, especially if she’s a behavioral psychologist. But can munching an old bear claw really prevent wedding bells? The Five-Year Engagement analyzes one couple’s amusing half-decade journey to marital bliss.

The 5 Year Engagement Emily Blunt

Engagements come in many lengths and this five-year one is a testament to how difficult it is to make a relationship work. But when we meet Tom and Violet, played by Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, they seem perfect for each other. They meet at a costume party -- he’s dressed as a super-bunny and she as a dead ringer for Princess Di . Given that he’s cute and likes to cook, she’s pretty and bookish, there’s little keeping them from falling in love. But The Five-Year Engagement isn’t about falling in love, after all, that’s the easy part. Instead the film is about staying together, which we all know is easier said than done. Fortunately for us, the film provides many hilarious obstacles to this young couple. The first being Violet’s acceptance into the University of Michigan to do her post-doctoral work. It’s a big departure from trendy San Francisco and Tom’s dream of running his own hipster restaurant, but love makes him follow his darling Violet to the icy mid-west.

While Violet blooms around her Freud-fancying colleagues and enjoys running experiments with doughnuts and test-subjects with low impulse control, Tom wilts. But this is where the real comedy starts. Tom does his best to fit in and befriends Bill, played uproariously by Chris Parnell . Bill is a house husband who enjoys hunting and manages to find time to knit. Yes, as in knitting those embarrassing holiday-themed sweaters your grandma wears -- but you also get the feeling that Bill may want more from Tom than just a hunting buddy. Parnell is fabulous at making you feel giddily uncomfortable, even if you’re not sure why. But Tom has bigger problems than Bill, especially when he discovers Violet kissed her boss Winton, played by a smarmy Rhys Ifans.

The Five-Year Engagement provides many giggles and even hearty laughter. Segel and Blunt have great comedic talents and you’ll particularly love watching them engage with Violet’s sister Suzie, played by Alison Brie and Tom’s insensitive chef buddy Alex, played by the doltish but lovable Chris Pratt. My favorite character in the film is the infantile Audrey, played pitch-perfectly by Dakota Johnson, a party girl who just can’t get enough sex, food or Bollywood dancing.

Bottom line: This movie is a fun relationship romp filled with funny, original characters that will have you grateful the couple took so long to get to the wedding altar.

Hollywood comedy darlings Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are taking on a new project: Parenting! Find out all the details about their upcoming bundle of joy.

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt having a baby

Two of our favorite comedians are finally expecting a baby! Anna Faris and Chris Pratt announced — through their rep — that they're going to be parents from the first time the fall.

The couple has planned on kids since marrying in 2009. "Chris wants a big family," Faris told People. "I do want a lot of kids, [too.] We want to populate the world!" she added to US Weekly.

Top 5 low-key celeb weddings >>

The couple met on the set of Take Me Home Tonight and married a few months later. They also starred together as co-dependent lovers in 2011's What's Your Number?

"I married way out of my pay grade. I have no idea how that happened. She's so g**damn funny and so good," Pratt told GQ recently. "She is a legit comedy powerhouse. But I'm not going to question it too much. I don't know what it is, man. I guess chicks dig love handles or something."

The couple even made a sacrifice to get prepared for parenting: They gave away Faris' elderly cat, prompting death threats toward Pratt on Twitter.

"To those of you somehow hung up on the notion that I kicked the walker out from underneath our cat and threw her into the streets, first of all, cats don't use walkers, so that's a ridiculous notion," Pratt tweeted. "Secondly, I found my aging cat a g**damn loving home! Ease up with the death threats for Heaven's sake!"

Apparently celebrities do have feelings when it comes to insults lobbed at them on Twitter.

"That s*** affects me," he said. "I'm human. I don't like being told that I should be 'put on an ice floe when I get old and incontinent,' or being called a 'douche' or told that 'prat = a**hole in England. Looks like the shoe fits!' I know that already!"

The Parks and Recreation star added that they "absolutely cannot have an animal that s**** all over the house" if they had kids.

"If you are a parent you will understand," he wrote. "And if not, that probably explains why you have such a hard-on for cats."

A** or not, we're pretty sure Pratt is going to make one hilarious dad.

Channing Tatum is head of the class. The actor's new film, 10 Years, takes him back to high school, where he mingles with old pals. Rosario Dawson, Chris Pratt, Anthony Mackie and Kate Mara are just some of the stars who pop up at his reunion.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum co-star in

It's hard to believe that hottie Channing Tatum went through an awkward stage. Or at least he did in his latest film, 10 Years.

Yahoo! Movies has released the first trailer for the ensemble dramedy that follows in the footsteps of The Big Chill and Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion.

Man Candy Mondays: Channing Tatum >>

In 10 Years, Tatum shares the screen with real-life wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum. And he's gone from Magic Mike to Average Joe. The film features some of Hollywood's hottest stars, as well as a few up-and-comers.

The cast includes Rosario Dawson, Chris Pratt, Ari Graynor, Justin Long, Max Minghella, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Aubrey Plaza, Lynn Collins, Oscar Isaac and Kate Mara.

The movie takes place the night of their high school reunion, where they quickly return to their juvenile ways.

Tatum's character is ready to propose marriage to his girlfriend but gets sidetracked by an old flame . Long and Minghella battle each other for the attention of former "it girl" Collins, while Pratt's character, a reformed bully, reverts to brutish behavior.

Hollywood's a small town, and most of the film's cast has worked together in the past. Both Pratt and Plaza currently star in NBC's Parks and Recreation, and Mackie and Geraghty co-starred in both The Hurt Locker and We Are Marshall. There are more where those came from, but you get the point.

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt welcome brand new baby

Anna Faris gave birth on Saturday to a baby boy. The baby, named Jack, wasn't due until fall and is currently in NICU.

Anna Faris Chris PrattAnna Faris and Chris Pratt welcomed a baby boy to the world today. According to People, the baby was born early.

"Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are happy to announce the birth of their beautiful baby boy, Jack," Faris' rep told People. "He arrived earlier than expected, and will be spending some time in the NICU. The happy parents thank you for your warm wishes and ask that you honor their privacy during this time."

The couple only announced they were expecting in May, the day before she debuted her baby bump at the premiere of The Dictator. Although this isn't actually the first time many have seen Faris look pregnant, since she played the mother of the babies Monica and Chandler were adopting on the last season of Friends.

While her rep didn't reveal how early the baby is, Faris was reportedly due in the fall.

The couple have been married since 2009, after meeting on the set of Take Me Home Tonight. Chris Pratt is currently a star on the show Parks and Recreation. He also co-starred with Emily Blunt in 2012's The Five-Year Engagement. Faris is currently working on multiple projects, including as a voice on the sequel to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The two are both in the upcoming film Movie 43.

"He's awesome. He's a great, great guy,” Faris told People when they were engaged. “I feel really lucky."

It's obvious that the two are in love, and Pratt feels equally lucky to be married to her. "I married way out of my pay grade. I have no idea how that happened. She's so g**damn funny and so good," Pratt said in an interview with GQ.

This is the first child for both Faris and Pratt.

10 Years movie review: High school highs and lows

$

0
This ensemble dramedy is about facing your high school peers and fears 10 years after graduation. The whole story takes place on one night, a night when many of the characters undergo subtle transformations that no doubt will influence the next 10 years of their lives. Or not.

10 Years Channing Tatum

Most central to the story is Jake , who loves his girlfriend Jess , but hasn't worked up the nerve to propose marriage. Someone else still lingers in the back of his mind, preventing him from making this life-leap.

We soon learn that someone is his high school sweetheart Mary , who makes an unexpected appearance at their 10-year high school reunion. Mary is married now, but even more beautiful. Will she and Jack still have that spark? And if the answer is yes, what are they going to do about it?

Meathead jock Cully is married to his high school babe Sam , and they have babies of their own. Sam is looking forward to the reunion as an opportunity to apologize to all the nerds he bullied and humiliated all those years ago. For Cully, he sees this night as an opportunity to show everyone how much he's changed -- if only he had changed.

10 Years Kate Mara

Party girl Anna is again, the belle of the ball, decked out in rhinestones and fur. Her charisma and stylish persona give the impression that her party's never stopped. Two recently successful dudes who never had a chance with Anna in high school, Marty and A.J. , now follow her around the reunion like lost puppies, still mesmerized by her popularity and feminine wiles. What they don't realize is that she's paid a price for her partying and her fun-girl image is all smoke and mirrors.

Indie rocker Reeves has made it big with a hit song and finally, buttressed by fame and success, can flirt with his school crush Elise . She is floored when he reveals that she was the inspiration that led to his musical success.

10 Years Justin Long

10 Years tells a relatable story for America’s 20-somethings, but never really goes too deep into the comedy or drama. The performances are all good, but there aren’t enough hijinks, hookups, or humiliations to really make this movie memorable.

Bottom line: While the actors make a watchable ensemble, the story lacks the creative spark to warrant a race to the cinema.

Meet the hot men of Zero Dark Thirty

There's nothing more attractive than a man in uniform. The political drama Zero Dark Thirty features plenty of them thanks to its all-star cast. Here are four actors who add talent and finesse to their roles.

This month, Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow returns to the big screen with Zero Dark Thirty. It's a powerful look at one of the biggest manhunts in American history. The story centers on Navy SEAL Team 6, the elite group tasked with finding Osama bin Laden.

Jessica Chastain is the film's leading lady, but she gets a lot of help from her male counterparts. She works alongside TV and film vet Kyle Chandler, funnyman Chris Pratt, Australian actor Jason Clarke and Swedish star Fares Fares.

Want to know more about this hot quad?

Here's the breakdown:

1

Chris Pratt

Most of us know Pratt for his role on NBC's Parks and Recreation. But he broke out of his comedic mold for a part in Bigelow's drama. The actor plays one of the U.S. Navy SEALs chosen to infiltrate bin Laden's hideout. In an interview with Conan O'Brien, the typically "soft" Pratt revealed, "I had about five or six months and I really busted my ass to get in good shape." We believe him. The proof is in the film.

2

Kyle Chandler

Will this man ever age? It's hard to believe but Chandler's been steadily working for 25 years. He's appeared on several TV shows including Early Edition and Friday Night Lights for which he won a Primetime Emmy in 2011. Since the show's cancellation, he's made the big screen his home. Chandler's landed roles in J.J. Abrams' Super 8, Ben Affleck's Argo and of course, Zero Dark Thirty.

3

Jason Clarke

Don't let the American accent fool you, Jason Clarke's Australian. The actor's been slowly but surely making a name for himself in the States. Aside from Bigelow, he's worked with other notable directors such as Michael Mann, Oliver Stone and Baz Luhrmann. This summer he'll appear in The Great Gatsby, and reunite with Zero Dark Thirty star and fellow Aussie Joel Edgerton.

Fares Fares
4

Fares Fares

Fares is a Lebanon-born Swedish actor with true international appeal. He began his acting career 13 years ago in 2000. Over the past few years he's started working his way into American theaters. In 2012, he starred opposite Denzel Washington in the crime thriller Safe House. We expect to see more of Fares in the near future

Leslie and Ben begin their walk to the altar with a little help from their friends.

The Parks and Rec girls

Nothing ever goes quite right in Pawnee, Indiana. That includes bachelor and bachelorette parties. Just a little over a month ago, Ben proposed to Leslie Knope . In pure Parks and Rec fashion, it was funny, cute and slightly awkward. Now it's time for a stag night!

Ann takes over planning Leslie's bachelorette party. Sadly, her plans are quickly overrun and ruined when Councilman Jamm steps in to "help". Penis straws and other inappropriate decor will abound for what looks like a pretty "intimate" gathering. Uh-oh.

Meanwhile, Chris steps up to be in charge of Ben's bachelor party and plans a game night. As the guys bond, though, Chris learns that none of them have ever had their own bachelor parties. We're not sure just how wild things will get. However, this sneak peek is meant to give us a clue and it looks like things stay pretty calm. Watch...

Newt Gingrich

Aside from the normal Parks and Rec shenanigans, there's another semi-cool reason to tune in to this week's episode. The outspoken author and former Republican congressman, Newt Gingrich, will make a guest appearance on the show! When Jerry goes out to dinner, he'll accidentally take Gingrich's table when their two last names are confused. That's a serious bummer for Jerry, but probably pretty funny for viewers.

As Leslie and Ben's wedding nears, what else can we expect? There's really no telling. Whatever it is, though, we're sure it'll be hilarious!
